This tutorial will assume the following steps are already taken.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/index.php\/2014\/08\/creating-a-home-server-part-1-why-should-i-hardware-and-software\/\" target=\"_blank\">hardware<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/index.php\/2014\/09\/creating-a-home-server-part-2-installing-the-operating-system\/\" target=\"_blank\">software<\/a> of an Ubuntu 14.04 computer is setup.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/index.php\/2015\/03\/creating-a-home-server-part-6-how-to-install-wordpress-on-ubuntu-14-04-desktop\/#Installing_a_LAMP_Web_Server\" target=\"_blank\">LAMP web server<\/a> is setup in Ubuntu.<\/li>\n<li>A <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/index.php\/2015\/01\/creating-home-server-part-3-install-no-ip-client-ubuntu\/\" target=\"_blank\">public web address<\/a> is setup (optional)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h1><span id=\"InstallDependencies\">Install\u00a0Dependencies<\/span><\/h1>\n<p>Piwigo only has one dependency needed to properly run: an imaging package. It recommends one of two different packages, Imagemagick or GD. We will install GD.<\/p>\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"null\">sudo apt-get install php5-gd<\/pre>\n<h1><span id=\"Install_Piwigo_Photo_Gallery\">Install Piwigo Photo Gallery<\/span><\/h1>\n<ol>\n<li>In the Ubuntu Server, open a web browser and navigate to Piwigo&#8217;s website (<a href=\"http:\/\/piwigo.org\">http:\/\/piwigo.org<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Click on the orange &#8220;Download Piwigo&#8221; button.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1579\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/01-Download-1024x421.png\" alt=\"01-Download\" width=\"1024\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/01-Download-1024x421.png 1024w, https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/01-Download-300x123.png 300w, https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/01-Download.png 1220w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>The next screen will provide two methods of installing Piwigo. Since we are installing directly from the server, the manual installation is easier. The default will be http:\/\/yourserveraddress\/piwigo.<\/li>\n<li>Select the appropriate Language (A), complete the fields for the MySQL database (B), and create the first user (C). Not only do you exclusively control your photos, but you can choose who can and cannot see specific photos, allowing you to be in control with your data. While this concludes the home server series, new installations tutorials will continue. (The new series will most likely be called Home Server Extras). These tutorials will include web applications that may be similar to ones already installed to provide a variety of online tools your can install on your server.
