Now we have to make our server accessible outside of our home network. Since many home accounts have a dynamic IP address, it is very difficult to constantly remember what set of numbers is the IP address of your home network. With a dynamic DNS client, instead of memorizing a series of numbers to access the home server, a simple web address will direct you to it. This hostname is the web address that will be associated with your account. Be thoughtful about choosing a hostname as it will be what you and other type in to get to your home server.<\/li>\n<li>Open your email client and confirm your account.<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-948\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/04-confirmation.png\" alt=\"04-confirmation\" width=\"914\" height=\"219\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span id=\"Installing_the_No-IP_Client_in_Ubuntu\">Installing the No-IP Client in Ubuntu<\/span><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>On your Ubuntu home server, launch the program :Terminal.&#8221;<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/06-terminal.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-950 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/06-terminal-1024x354.png\" alt=\"06 - terminal\" width=\"474\" height=\"164\" \/><\/a>It should look like a dark box with a blinking insertion point at the top left.<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/07-terminal2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-951 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/blog.technerdservices.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/07-terminal2.png\" alt=\"07 - terminal2\" width=\"797\" height=\"496\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>Copy and paste each subsequent line into terminal. Be sure to hit the &#8220;Enter&#8221; key on your keyboard to launch each command.\n<pre class=\"EnlighterJSRAW\" data-enlighter-language=\"null\">sudo -s\r\ncd \/usr\/local\/src\/\r\nwget http:\/\/www.no-ip.com\/client\/linux\/noip-duc-linux.tar.gz\r\ntar xf noip-duc-linux.tar.gz\r\ncd noip-2.1.9-1\/\r\nmake install<\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<li>Your Terminal screen will stop adding text and prompt for your No-IP username and password. There will also be additional prompts. However, the feature Port forward is found on all routers with the feature.
